Refining the Design Process: Colour Considerations and Collaborative Efforts

4 December 2023 - Selecting the optimal colour palette for both watch and in-ear monitors (IEM) poses a significant challenge in the design process. In this stage, iterative exploration is crucial, and I acknowledge having revised the direction over twenty times. The designer's dedication to generating numerous templates and mock-ups is commendable, and their tireless efforts deserve appreciation.

Currently, two primary themes have emerged: Platinum and Gold. Within each, a meteorite dial option has been explored. The Platinum theme features a black IEM cable and black stone IEMs, while the Gold theme utilizes a gold-coloured cable and IEMs. These are currently preliminary concepts, as two-dimensional representations may not fully translate to the final product. Careful evaluation and consideration are essential before proceeding.

Seeking inspiration through online research and collaborating with trusted partners are key to refining the design. Frequent discussions with my longstanding strap maker have yielded various possibilities, including hand-crafted patina leather straps and alligator straps. The Italian-inspired patina shades and craftsmanship appeal to my desire for style and class. Additionally, exploring a "funky space" look with another strap maker introduces an intriguing contrast.

The ultimate decision regarding strap selection hinges on achieving a unique aesthetic that exudes quality and craftsmanship. When someone observes the watch, I want them to feel the care and time invested in its creation.
